Ancient Rome severed as a catalyst the spreading of art and civilization.  they were the greatest power west of china at the time. They ruled spreading from the Persian gulf to Spain and from north Africa to Britain. it was one of the largest empires in western civilization. One of the most iconic piece of architecture from the roman empire is the Colosseum. This was a stadium made of cement and stone. The stadium seated 50,000 people. events held in the Colosseum were things such a gladiator fights. The signature pieces of roman interior design are Mosaics, stucco, frescoes, ornamentation, patterned floors, flat and vaulted ceilings.
