Art Nouveau Design period

The art nouveau period began in the 1890s to around 1910. The Art nouveau period was a movement aimed to be more in touch with nature. They focused a lot on free form shapes and natural vines. This time in Europe was a time of peace and prosperity. flowers, birds, insects and vines were a major source of inspiration. A major characterics of the art nouveau period, rejection of victorian styles, design style based on nature, use of modern materials such as iron and glass, modern techniques industrial production, electric  lighting, relationship with fine arts- painting and sculpture. This period was geared around abstract figures. The movement started in Belgium and France. One of the most influential designer during this time was Victor Horta. In conclusion the Art Nouveau period was a design period geared towards nature and getting in touch with the basics.
