Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright was an American architect, interior designer, writer, and educator, who designed more than 1,000 structures, 532 of which were completed. Wright believed in designing structures that were in harmony with humanity and its environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture. His work includes original and innovative examples of many building types, including offices, churches, schools, skyscrapers, hotels, and museums. Frank Lloyd Wright believed that rooms in Victorian era homes were boxed-in and confining. He began to design houses with low horizontal lines and open interior spaces. Rooms were often divided by leaded glass panels. Furniture was either built-in or specially designed. His Homes included Low-pitched roof, Overhanging eaves, Horizontal lines, Central chimney, Open floor plan, Clerestory windows.

protomodernism

The postmodernism movement began in 1897 and lasted until 1959. During this design movement there were two sub movements. they were the Vienna sessions and the Deutscher werkbund. they were similar but both had their own flair. Deutscher Werkbund Movement set the stage for the international style and the art deco style. they also worked as a collaboration with their designers and manufactures to improve competitiveness in German design. The Vienna secession began in Vienna Austria around the same time as the Deutscher Werkbund. This movement made world wide advances in Arts, history, psychology and philosophy. they held a great interest in culture and design. some major designers during this time were olbrich, klimt, wagner and loos.
