Arts and crafts Period

the arts and crafts period began in late 1800s and it was a reaction to the victorian era. It was a rebellion against the eclectic ways of the victorian era. Their goal was to get back to the roots of craftsmanship. the movement was started by a man named William Morris. Some Elements of the Arts and Crafts period are exposed hinges on doors, cabinetry, and other large furniture. Another element is built in furniture they liked to add very elaborate built in furniture into there homes. The last major element of the arts and crafts period is white walls. Some of the major designers of this time period are William Morris, Philip Webb, Godwin, Voysey, Stickley and Charles Macintosh. The arts and craft design era stressed simple design and Craftsmanship.
