American Period

The American Period consisted of three subgroups victorian, Federal and Shaker. The Victorian which was named after queen Victoria  was a more elaborate subgroup with a lot of colorful exteriors and ornate furniture. The Federal Subgroup is used in exactly how it sounds federal. So it can be seen in our government buildings and furniture designers such as duncan Phyfe thrived during this time period. The Last Subgroup is Shaker period which is based on Simple but built well. The shaker time period is still used very much today because it does have a simple clean and adaptable. The american time period was a very versatile design that is used today in modern architecture.

English Renaissance

The english renaissance was spilt in to three time periods with many different sub periods. The major time periods were the late, the Mid, and the late. The sub periods usually were named after the rulers at that time or a designer who had great influence over the design in that era. England started into the path of the renaissance much later then the other european countries because it is an island. The english renaissance started in the late 15th century almost a hundred years after the italians. The major styles that are still very prevalent today are the Elizabethan, Tudor and Baroque. The english design was defiantly more of a more masculine design era and had a lot of manly things.

french renaissance

The revival of classical art and architecture during the Renaissance spread from Italy to France in the 15th and 16th century, giving rise to the majority of the famous French châteaux, mostly in the Loire valley. During the first half of the 16th century, Francis I established his court at Fontainebleau outside Paris, where he employed numerous Italian architects and artists, including Sebastiano Serlio, Il Rosso, and Francesco Primaticcio. At the same time native architects came into favor; they included Pierre Lescot, who built parts of the Louvre, and Philibert Delorme, who designed the Château of Anet. Some qualities of the French Renaissance are symmetrical arrangement of windows and doors, extensive use of classical columns and pilasters, triangular pediments, square lintels, arches, domes, niches with sculptures, and steep roofs.
